Who We Are
Merlin's Hope: Ragdoll and Maine Coon Rescue (MHCR) is named after my beloved 16-year-old Birman, Merlin, who was dumped at a humane society because his owners didn't want to pay for the medical care he needed. Merlin taught me that homeless cats need compassion, they need a home, but most of all that we need them as much as they need us. It is the mission of Merlin's Hope to rescue cats from local shelters and to find them homes where they will find compassion and where they will give and receive love. Our goal is a home for every cat and a cat in every home.
Adopting a friend
MHCR requires an application, two personal references, and a vet reference. Adoption fees vary. Please contact us at melindahug65@wildblue.net for an application.
MHCR adopts to indoor only homes and does not allow declawing of its cats.
Merlin's Hope does not do out-of-state adoptions except to those states bordering Texas (Oklahoma, New Mexico, Louisiana). The adopter must be willing to drive and pick up the cat.
Kitten Policy: Kittens (under the age of 8 months) must go into a home with another cat/kitten or be adopted with a buddy. Special prices are made for buddy adoptions.
If MHCR has to hold a cat/kitten for more than three days for an approved adopter after the cat is chosen, there will be a $5 boarding fee per day until the cat/kitten is picked up, because MHCR is a rescue and holding a cat/kitten for an adopter eliminates a space could be used to save another rescue cat/kitten.
Donations:
Donations are always welcome. MHCR especially needs Innnova EVO (canned and dry), bleach (any brand), cat litter, bedding (especially needed are cuddler beds), treats, cat toys, and cat furniture.

MHCR does not have a physical location. Our cats are lodged in the homes of foster parents. Please call or contact us via e-mail, which is answered daily, to make an appointment.
